Top 10 Rockin’ Christmas Albums
If you’re like us, sometimes you get bored with the stereotypical Christmas music. Some even down right hate Christmas music. That being said, if you’re not into the normal Christmas tunes, we have the list for you. Lets take a look at our top 10 rock n roll inspired Christmas albums.
10. Christmas Offerings - Third Day
Third Day’s “Christmas Offerings” record is among the top of the CCM charts for christian Christmas albums. Their southern rock/country styles brings new flair and stylings to msuic that has never been played this way! They re-recorded a lot of our favorites songs such as “Away in a Manger,” “Silent Night,” and “The First Noel.”
9. Christmas Time Again - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Freebird! We can not begin to tell you how much we love Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Christmas album! Originally released in 2000, Skynyrd puts their signature southern rock sound into both originals and classic that your family will be jamming to around the Christmas tree for years to come. In our opinion, these are some of the best re-imagined Christmas songs to date! Check out our favorites, “Santa’s Messing with the Kid,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town (feat. Charlie Daniels Band!),” and “Greensleeves.”
8. Christmas in the Heart - Bob Dylan
By the time of this release, his Christmas album as is 34th studio released record! With such a long history os recording, Bon really knocked this one out of the park! While it was immediately met with much criticism over the move to make a Christmas album, it was quickly recognized for its fresh takes on our favorite Christmas classics. We liked the songs “Winter Wonderland,” “The First Noel,” and “I’ll be Home for Christmas.”
7. Christmas with Weezer - Weezer
You may know Weezer as one of the best alternative rock ands of this century, but we know them as creators of this killer Christmas album! Released in 2008, Weezer re-inspires your favorite classic Christmas songs into their signature rock flair. Check out classics like “We Wiss You a Merry Christmas,” “O Holy Night,” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.”
6. Joy to the World - Lincoln Brewster
Lincoln Brewster is most known for his incredible guitar skills that he incorporates in his christian worship music. We absolutely love how he re-inspired Christmas classics like “The Little Drummer Boy” and “Joy to the World.” Brewster also added an impossibly difficult guitar instrumental to the album called “Miraculum” that we are still trying to learn. Definitely check this one out.
5. Rockin’ Little Christmas - Chuck Berry
The Father of Rock n’ Roll did it again! Chuck Berry and his friends put together a time machine of an album. This album captures his signature blues rock ’n’ roll sound, and incorporates it into cherry and delightful Christmas magic. Our favorite song from the record is Chuck Berry’s “Run Rudolph Run.”
4. Beach Boys Christmas Album - Beach Boys
Originally released in 1964, the Beach Boys crammed 5 original tunes, and 7 of your Christmas favorites that eventually lead to the boys making it a gold album. This album became an instant classic with both the Beach Boys signature sound with some added orchestral renditions of songs. Make sure you check out songs like “Little Saint Nick,” “Santa’s Beard, and Christmas Day.”
3. Let it Snow, Baby… Let it Reindeer - Relient K
Relient K’s Christmas album tops the charts as one of the greatest non-traditional festive albums of all time. From their incredibly popular, punk rock remake of “Sleigh Ride” to originals like “Merry Christmas, Here’s to Many More,” and “I Hate Christmas Parties.”
2. A Very Special Christmas Album - Various Artists
This album is a compilation of some of the greatest artists of all time. Through 8 different albums, the album has artists like Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen, U2, Stevie Nicks, Bon Jovi, Run-D.M.C, and so much more. These are truly some of the most fun Christmas songs to rock out to, all with their own flavors and personality. Our favorites are “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” and “Christmas in Hollis.”
1. Elvis’ Christmas Album - Elvis Presley
In our opinion, this is the best Christmas album of all time. Originally released in 1957, it spent over a month at number 1 on Billboard top pop albums, and today remains as one of the top Christmas albums of all time. Some of our favorite from the album are “Santa Claus is Back in Town,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” and “Santa Bring my Baby Back.”
